I have this mystical place that I like to visit on the Pacific Ocean called Hug Point. The secret to getting there is that you have to go when the ocean is at low tide or you cannot access it. At first, it looks like an ordinary beach with a big rock. Then the tide falls, and you walk around that rock, you discover that it has a waterfall, caves, tidepools, trees with exposed roots, and even remnants of an old road. This place reminds me a lot of the process of hypnosis. At every moment, we receive so much information through our senses that the conscious mind can't keep up so it must be filtered through processes of deletion, distortion, and generalizations. Because this filtration system (the critical faculty) is based on old responses and realities, sometimes, those unconscious responses, may not be serving us now.

Think of the critical faculty as the rock and Hug Point as the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is equivalent to the low tide in which the subconscious mind can be accessed. Hypnosis also comes with the added bonus of your very own interactive tour guide which will help you navigate the journey into your subconscious mind. With the critical faculty in place, our reality is limited; much like Hug Point is just a beach. But then once you add in hypnosis, a whole new world and perspective opens up. Like Hug Point at low tide, Hug Pont is no longer just a beach, but now it has become its own wonderland of adventure. Hypnosis is a form of deep relaxation that helps you bypass the critical faculty to access the subconscious mind to explore what is behind the rock to see things from an unfiltered view and get to the root of the problem. It also gives different perspectives and insights that you may not have been consciously aware of before.

Curious Queries

Is hypnosis mind control?

Absolutely not! You remain aware and in control the entire time. All types of hypnosis is self-hypnosis. All work is suggestive. You get to choose what to accept or reject during the process.

What is hypnosis?

In short, a deep state of relaxation and focus allows for your subconscious mind to be tapped into in order to create positive changes in your mindset.

Why the subconscious mind and not the conscious mind?

The conscious mind is the logical part of the mind. Information that is housed there has gone through a filter called the critical faculty which deletes, distorts, and generalizes all incoming information so that we can easily process said information. The subconscious mind (sometimes referred to as the unconscious mind) stores all memories, communicates with symbols, likes to follow commands, and thinks only in the positive tense.

How much will I remember?

Everything! You are awake and aware the whole time.

Can hypnosis still be effective even though I am not in person?

Yes, hypnotherapy can be done from the comfort of your own home via video conferencing with the same effect and benefits as if you were in person.
